Carieke
In 1982 begon het allemaal voor Carieke bij de Graham Lowlanders te Leeuwarden. 7 jaar is Carieke aan deze pipeband verbonden geweest, eerst als danseres en later als lerares. Daarna heeft zij bij de miniband Excalibur een volledige dansgroep tot leven laten komen. In verband met haar studie
vertrok Carieke naar Groningen om bij de band van Hoogkerk (McDowell pipeband) les te geven in het Highland Dancing.
Na vele aanvragen voor lessen in de regio Zuidlaren heeft zij besloten om in haar woonplaats Zuidlaren verder te gaan met haar eigen dansschool: Carieke's School of Highland Dancing. Een ieder die zich wil bekwamen in de Schotse Danskunst is hier van harte welkom.
Naast het opzetten van de dansschool heeft Carieke (1970)
zich in de loop der jaren ontwikkeld tot de hoogst-opgeleide Highland Dancing lerares van het continent. Zij heeft haar Highland Dancing opleiding tot Highland en National lerares gevolgd in Bonn (Dld) bij een van de meest vooraanstaande dansleraressen en juryleden op het Europese continent, miss Loma Henry.
In November 1994 is Carieke voor het officiële dansexamen van de Scottish Dance Theachers Alliance naar Cumbernauld, Schotland getogen om daar in een praktijk- en theorie-examen haar kwaliteiten als danslerares te bewijzen.Tijdens dit Associate examen kwamen alle Highland Dances uitvoerig aan de orde. Haar prestaties resulteerden in het behalen van een diploma. Zij werd hiermee de eerste officieel door de SDTA geregistreerde danslerares op het Europese continent.
Later heeft Carieke ook het Membership Highland examen en het Membership National examen met goed gevolg afgelegd

In 1982 it all started for Carieke when she joined the Graham Lowlanders in Leeuwarder. She was linked to this pipeband for 7 years, first as a dancer and later as teacher. After her period at the Graham Lowlanders she founded a complete Highland Dancing Team at the miniband Excalibur. When she started studying at University she left for Groningen and started teaching Highland Dancing in Hoogkerk with the MacDowell Pipeband. At that time she also started teaching from her house in Zuidlaren and after some time she decided to continue teaching in her "hometown" Zuidlaren with her own School of Highland Dancing. Anyone who would like to learn Scottish Dancing is more then welcome here. Besides setting up the dancing school Carieke has taken lots of education and continued to expand her qualities as a teacher. She now is the leading teacher on the continent with a membership in both sections of dancing; Highland and National. She took lessons to get her ready for a series of exams with miss Loma Henry, top teacher who had a major career in Highland Dancing in Australia.
November 1994; Carieke takes her first professional exam with the Scottish Dance Teachers Alliance in Cumbernauld Scotland, which she passes with flying colours. After this Carieke went on to pass her Membership in the Highland Branch and her Membership in the National Branch.
