Inoculations
A ferret is very sensitive for dogdiseases. When a ferret comes in contact with this virus, through an infected dog, or an other contaminated ferret, then healing him is no longer possible and it wil die within 5 weeks. So it is highly advisable to inoculate the animal against these diseases. Not al inoculation products are safe. As far as I understood, keep in mind I am not a Vet, and a number of sources confirm this, Vanguard 7 and Enduracell 7 are not safe, The ferret might even get a disease from these. This vaccine is breaded on dogcellines and are supposed to be able to give the virus to the ferret, the animal is much smaller than a dog. Better is a vaccine that is bread on chicken embryocelcutures. So always ask your Vet for Duramune DA2PI or Nobivac Puppy DP. If he does not have these he can order them. If he does not want to do so, easy, look for a good Vet!
Besides the dogdiseases our ferret is also sensitive for "Weil disease", it needs to be inoculated for this to. Advised it the following inoculation schedule (according to the Foundation The Ferret)
And further
The flue, also a virus and a Ferret can become very ill from it, fortunately
he will usually recover from it, in a quit environment with enough attention.
A common cold is also something a ferret can get. These diseases are carried
from master to animal, so people with colds or the flue, stay away from ferrets!
There are a number of diseases a ferret can obtain, for example because
it ate raw porkmeat it could get Aujeszky disease. Bacteria can be dangerous
for a ferret also. Most diseases are not common and very easy to prevent,
no raw porkmeat, no raw chickenmeat or eggs (Pasteurelosses) and no spoiled
food. I also run in to an other thing. Toxoplasmoses, whish is a cats disease,
Pregnant women are advised not to clean the litterbin during their pregnancy,
the change of contamination is not ruled out. Our Ferret can not become ill
from this bacteria but might be a carrier. This means that you should not
clean the ferretbin while your are pregnant. To bad for al those men who now
wil have to clean two litterbins. The ferret can also be bothered by parasites,
the most famous ones are fleas and earmites.
