Java POP3 proxy server (beta)

Welcome to the homepage of the java pop3 proxy, this program will fetch email from the users accounts on Hotmail and locally cache them for the client to download them later. The source is available to anyone who wants to learn etc. This project is now also on sourceforge. Search for pop3hot ;) Please let us know of any changes you make to the source.

This program is still beta and so it could very possibly not work properly. so that should be clear enough.

Every pop3 client seems to have its own implementation which makes it more difficult to service all the different clients out there.

To run the server you compile it with jdk 1.4.2 and then run it from a terminal or commandprompt :

javac *.java
java Apl

And the arguments to be added are:
-rate= amount of time in seconds between checking for new mail on hotmail servers.
-usage show the short help
-version show version
-gui= yes or no

The portnumber is 110 for standard connections, but you can specify any other port , as long as the clients connect to the right port.The server connects on startup to hotmail and stores all the emails on localhost.
