Tapes
The main source of audio tapes in Romani
languages is the Global Recordings Network. They
currenly have six
tapes in their library and hope to have more. All tapes are available
without
cost, but donations are very much appreciated.
Kalderaš
"ROMANI, VLACH: Kalderash I, II, &
III."
Three tapes of songs interlaced with short evangelical messages. Very
well
accepted by Kalderaš speakers.
Sinti
"ROMANY: South German." A children's song,
a
lively telling of the story of Zacchaeus, and a closing song. The tape
is
very short but is well accepted by Sinti speakers.
Ursari
"ROMANI: Balkan Ursari I & II."
A
woman reading from the Gospel of Matthew. The language is clearly
understood by Ursari speakers, but in many eastern European churches it
is very uncommon for a woman to preach. Listeners to these tapes need
to be told that the women
is only reading from the Bible, not preaching.
