Plot
Taylor Gentry, played by Angela Goethals, is a filmmaker who is
very interested in serialkillers like Michael Myers, Jason Voorhees and
Freddy Krueger. She and her filmcrew get to visit serial killer Leslie
Vernon, played by Nathan Baesal. This new serial killer wants to show
Taylor and her filmcrew how he works and shows them step by step how he
hunts and kills his victims. And while Vernon plans his reign of terror
over the small town of Glen Echo, the camera keeps rolling and rolling.
Robert Englund's character Doctor Halloran is a psychiater who once
treated Leslie in Reno, just like Dr. Loomis treated Michael Myers. He
therefor is the only person who knows who Vernon really is. But due to a
trick Leslie pulled on him, he can't turn Leslie in, because he himself
will get arrested. So the doctor decides to take matters into his own
hands and tracks Leslie down himself. But Leslie is smart and won't let no
old shrink stop him from killing innocent people.
Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon is the directing debut of Scott
Glosserman, who also produced the film and wrote the script together with
co-producer David J. Stieve. The film was released for the first time in
July the 8th in Canada. The film contains many references to popular
horrorfilms like The Shining, Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th,
Halloween, Black Christmas, Pet Semetary, Hellraiser and Last House on the
Left.
