Plot
Hatchet follows the story of a young guy named Ben (played by Joel
Moore), who just got dumped by his girlfriend and can't stop thinking
about her. To take his mind off this, he and his friend Marcus (played by
Deon Richmond) decide to go on a swamp tour at night. But when their boat
suddenly brakes down, Ben, Marcus and the other passengers have to go by
foot. And that's where they discover the horrible legend of Victor Crowley
(played by Kane Hodder), a horribly disformed man who then kills them one
by one. Can they survive the night?
Robert's Englund's character Paul Sampson is introduced at the start of
the film. On one night Sampson and his son Ainsley are hunting for
alligators. Sampson is a hardass, who hates it when his son does something
stupid and often calls him names, such as 'queer'. When Ainsley then
leaves the boat to take a piss and comes back, he discovers Sampson has
been torn apart by someone or something. We later discover that this was
the work of Mr. Victor Crowley.
Hatchet is a horrorfilm by writer and director Adam Green and it calls
itself "Old school American Horror". No remake, no sequel and
not based on a Japanese one. Special effects artist John Carl Buechler,
who directed the seventh Friday the 13th film, did the special make-up
effects for this film and Kane Hodder, the actor who played Jason Voorhees
in that film, is the one who plays the killer Victor Crowley.

Trivia
Robert plays
the part of Paul Sampson.
Robert, Tony Todd (Candyman, Final Destination) and Kane Hodder (Jason
Voorhees in Friday
the 13th 7-10) were also seen together on screen in Wishmaster,
the 1997 horrorfilm by Robert Kurtzman.
In the 2003 comedy Nobody
Knows Anything, Robert also plays a character named Sampson.
While they are hunting for a killer alligator, Robert's character Sampson
says to Joshua Leonard's character Ainsley "don't make me throw you
in the swamp now". In Tobe Hooper's 1977 horrorfilm Eaten
Alive Robert's character gets thrown into a swamp, where he
meets a killer crocodile.

Quotes
"Sshhh. Shut your hole!"
"Keep still, Ainsley. I think she's back!"
"What should I do?"
"Don't make a sound. Stay right there."
"Oh, come on man, I can't go like this."
"And why in the hell not?"
"Because it's weird with you sitting there like that."
"Just keep it down, would ya?!"
"Ain't no matter what I say, it's 'shut up, Ainsley' or 'you're
queer, Aisnley' or 'why can't you be more like your sister, Ainsley'".
"I said 'shut up', you little queer!!"
"See? See that? ... Asshole."
"What did you say, boy?"
"Nothing."
"Well, don't make me throw you in the swamp, now."
