Plot
Nightmare Cafe tells the story of Frank Nolan, played by Jack
Coleman and Fay Peronovic, played by Lindsay Frost. Frank and Fay discover
that they both died, but are now being given a second change. They become
the cook and the waitress in the Nightmare Cafe, owned by the mysterious
Blackie, played by Robert Englund. Now, as the cook and the waitress,
Frank and Fay take this second change and try to make everything that went
wrong in their first life better this time.
Robert's character is Blackie, the owner of the Nightmare Cafe. Blackie is
a mysterious guy and a master of disguise, who very often smokes a big
cigar. Blackie is dead, just like Frank and Fay and has incredible powers,
like traveling instantaneously from one place to another. According to
Robert, Blackie probably died in the 1920's, telling from his clothes.
'The Twilight Zone meets Cheers', that's how creator Wes Craven often
refers to the show. Craven and Thomas Baum created the show, which was
first aired in January 1992 on NBC and actors such as Don S. Davis, Angela
Bassett and Carrie-Anne Moss had small roles in the series. But even
though the show had great actors and a couple of die hard fans, the
ratings were very low and the show got cancelled after only six episodes.

Trivia
Robert plays the role of Blackie.
Actor Lochlyn Munro can be seen in one of the episodes as a character
named Ralston. Munro and Robert were also seen together in the 2003
horrorfilm Freddy vs
Jason.
Despite the name and the fact that both Wes Craven and Robert are involved,
this show has nothing to do with Wes Craven's 1984 horrorfilm A
Nightmare on Elm Street, as many people believe.

Quotes
"Touch that remote and you die! Now that I've got your attention,
here's the deal. See those two people? That's Frank, and that's Fay.
Strangers when they met, turns out they've got a lot in common. Both died
on the same night, both ended up in the same body of water, and both took
refuge in the same all-night cafe. Me, I run the place. Name's Blackie.
Been here from the beginning. Now, I know I said Frank and Fay were dead,
but the cafe needed a new cook and waitress, so it gave them a second
chance at life. They do their job, they get to stick around and help
unsuspecting customers turn their lives around. 'Course, anything can
happen to those who wander in - their worst nightmares, or their forbidden
dreams. Yeah, it all happens here...in this little place we call the
Nightmare Cafe!"
