Welcome to a simulation game based on the world situation as it was in 1914.
This year where a political assassination in Sarajevo would trigger off a series events that lead To the outbreak of World War One.
Bobby’s 1914 game is not an re-enactment of what actually happened during that year and afterwards . Instead , the intention is to see what could have happened in 1914 given the circumstances that Existed then .
Players take responsible of a country – or an empire if it comes attached to one – where they have to consider many factors besides war making.
These will include economic decisions about investing in another country, alliances and maintaining their country’s prestige in a potentially hostile situation.
To help you ,the GM sends out detailed turn sheets that will list various items from how many soldiers you have to when you can expect payment for economic goods delivered to another player. There is also a magazine called ‘The Planet’ to read which will give you an authoritative news roundup of what else is going on in the game and who and whom to watch out for !
Some countries will be harder to play and involve a lot more work . This can be because of your size or reach of an empire makes you a strong player in many regions but here the GM has worked out a way where all players can have the potential to ‘win’ this game..
Size is not everything – certainly not here and there is the bonus that if other players drop out, there is always the chance you could be the next ‘Kaiser’ or the President of the USA.
At all times the GM will be at hand to give advise and general help to those who find the game initially baffling and complex.

It is hoped that this game will be attractive enough to encourage anyone to participate within the rules set down . Hopefully, a balance between realistic game play – and not some inconsiderable fun – will be experienced by all those who come into the game. That is at least the intention of Bob Hellemons, Mike Leslie and all others who have made a contribution. So – by all means – sign up for the 1914 game and try and fulfill your cyber dream of conquering the world as the next Genghis Khan, Napoleon Bonaparte or Tharg the Merciless from the planet ‘Spat!’ – but don’t forget to check on your turnsheets first – and read the message board to see how much you are liked by other game players !
