This composition was part of the event called "Mewantemooseicday". A dozen of phonographs and almost 250 records were arranged on tables around a room without any chairs to sit on. Loudspeakers were distrubuted around the space. The audience that entered the room didn't get any instruction, but after a while, people started putting records on the phonographs. It is Cage's version of how to deal with audience participation, but in a way to avoid people sitting down at a piano, if they haven't studied it, while everyone can handle a phonograph.
