| Also entitled Project for Hanau Squatters. In December 1986 a house in the Metzgerstrasse in Hanau, Germany, was squatted. Eversince it has been an autonomous culture-centre. Cage composed this work at the request of the community, using a map of the city of Hanau, dividing it in 88 times 126 squares of 1/8 times 1/8 inch each. Using IC (One of Cage's I Ching computer programs) five locations on the map were determined. The directions in the score are very simple: "Make a recording at each location shown on the map. Start at the times on the days indicated...". The days and times are: Monday 21:10 - Wednesday 22:33 - Saturday 3:23 - Sunday 23:26 - Thursday 09:09. |
