Piano Duet

This is not a work Cage actually composed, but it is suggested in the subtitle and performance instructions of Cartridge Music.
In the performance instructions Cage indicates connecting a contact microphone to the piano soundboard. He suggests the use of sheet 2 (one of the shapes referring to the keyboard, the other to the strings), as well as sheet 4 (shapes corresponding to keyboard, strings, interior construction noises and exterior construction noises). Other sheets may also be used, creating further disctinctions. Cage also gives suggestions for piano preparations, but with some unorthodox materials like blankets, pillows, large sheets of plastic or newspapers.
The subtitle of Cartridge Music ("also DUET FOR CYMBAL and PIANO DUET, TRIO etc."), also suggests other possible combinations of instrument(s).
