| Written after "La balançoire" from Satie's "Sports et divertissements". Cage planned a series of
piano compositions entitled "Sports", based on Satie's works, after having written a series of 21 mesostics by the same
name. 'Swinging' is the only piece he finished though. Sources: Paul van Emmerik: Thema's en Variaties; New York Public Library online catalog; Martin Erdman: Liner notes for MDG 613 0794-2 |
