Brief Biography
As a student, drs. Mark Schonewille participated in a research group writing a book about Dutch active labour market policies. At the same time he was an assistant-lecturer at the Faculty of Management and Organization of the University of Groningen. Also during his studies at the General Economics department of the same university, he worked as a junior researcher for the European Low Wage Employment Research (LoWER) Network, for which he assisted in writing several papers and other publications, which mainly considered the subject of exclusion in society. He was also involved in a research project about youth employment in the Netherlands, which is comparable to the project ÒBenchmarking employment policies...Ó. The result of this project is a report published by the French Ministry of Employment and Solidarity. Currently, a few more articles about similar subjects are being prepared for publication. The subject of his PhD-project ÒInstitutions, human capital and labour productivityÓ is closely related to his specialization in institutional economics and also concerns company-provided education and on-the-job training. Publications concerning labour market policies are: Projectgroep economie, De particuliere vraag naar schoonmaakdiensten (Private demand for cleaning services), University of Groningen, 1995. Projectgroep economie, Dienstencheques (Vouchers), University of Groningen, 1995. Projectgroep economie, De Witte Werkster (The Legal Cleaning Lady), Ed. by M. de Bruin and W.
