Country Codes 1.1.1

About this stack

Country Codes is a simple HyperCard stack to look up the country name that corresponds with the codes used for internet servers. For example, servers in the Netherlands have addresses of the form www.domain.nl. the country code is nl.

Using this stack

If you want to know in which country the server is located, you type “nl” in the lower field of Country Codes window and Netherlands is returned in the upper field. If you want to know the code of a country, you enter the name of the country in the upper field and get the code returned in the lower field.

To start the search, you can type return or press the Find Code or Find Country buttons. The Close button closes the window and, in case no other stack is open, brings you to the Home stack. Click on the copyright notice at the bottom of the window to get more copyright info and to send me an e-mail.

You can also enter only part of the name of a country. The full name will be displayed in the upper field. If you don’t get the country name you are looking for, just try again to see the next matching country. For example, if you enter “net”, the first result you get is Network, second is Old Style Arpanet, the third is Netherlands Antilles, and the Netherlands come fourth. So, if you don’t get what you’re looking for, simply try again. Of course, each country code corresponds to only one country. If you don’t get any results after entering a country code, the code doesn’t exist.

Looking up international dialling codes works exactly the same way as internet country codes. Choose International dialling Codes from the popup menu to change the window. Now, you can enter a country in the upper field to retrieve its international dialling code. You can also enter a number in the lower field, to see to which country it belongs.

Requirements

This stack needs at least HyperCard 2.2. The Color Tools stack has to be installed. Some features may need more recent versions of HyperCard.
