A very good book about travelling with your motorbike is
'Motorrad Reisen zwischen Urlaub und Expedition' written by
Thomas Troßmann (ISBN 3-921497-20-5). The book is only
available in German language. Most information is aimed at travelling
through the Sahara desert (for enthusiasts: some routes are given).
This stuff is nevertheless very useful for less demanding
expeditions. The tips and tricks on choosing the right motorcycle,
technics, equipment and packing are useful for every trip. The book
contains also information about motoring through Asia, Australia,
Scandinavia and South America
Entirely written in English is 'The Adventure Motorbiking
Handbook'. This one also contains information about choosing the
right bike and preparing for long trips. The publisher has a
special site for
this book.
Visiting the internet sites of travellers makes you forget time. Often these pages have a lot of beautiful pictures. I am most fascinated by expeditions in the desert and more recently real offroad adventures. In a few cases advice is given on motorcycles, equipment and preparation - something you can use in any case. The following links are worth visiting.
New links will be added in future. Mail me if you think your site is really missing!
