F650 Workshop - air filter

[ HomePage | Funduro | Workshop ]

Every 10 000 kilometres the air filter should be replaced. The manual says that cleaning only should be possible but this is only recommendable as emergency maintenance. The mounting of the filter makes several holes into the foam filter which makes it less a barrier for dust and particles. A new air filter doesn't cost a fortune - they are about 6 to 7 euro.
At trips that arouse lots of dust the filter should be checked more often and particles should be tapped off (in the mounting) or filter replaced.

A special K&N air filter can be obtained for the F650 - it is said that it only needs to be cleaned every 100 000 km. Without any adaptions made to the ignition and exhaust use of this filter is not recommendable. The engine becomes too much air which may cause damage to the valves. Besides these filters also need a regular checkup.
