Home Simone model Lloyd Cole Bootlegs to trade Piaggio Sfera

Introduction

The presentation of the Sfera in Monte Carlo in December 1990 was Piaggio's first venture into a new generation of scooters with technopolymer bodies.

Seven years later, the Sfera, now offered in 50, 80 and 125 cc versions, is innovative but also ideally linked to the first series of the Sfera which won the Compasso d'Oro (Golden Compass) international industrial design award just a few months after its launch.

Anyone looking for an understated but modern, innovative machine, advanced technology that enhances safety and driving enjoyment, and a superior level of reliability and comfort, will find it in the Sfera. The engine that powers the Sfera 50 and 80 cc is the fruit of the painstaking evolution of the tried and tested 2-stroke single cylinder engine with segmented intake, that Piaggio technicians have made even more suitable for town use, refining the power delivery curve to make it more sparkling but also quieter, sparing on fuel and reliable, with a new air cleaner, a new silencer that enhances torque at low speed, and a new soundproofed cooling system. Oil consumption has been reduced by a new automatic mixer setting, while ignition is still electronic but the timing has been modified. Torque and power deliveries, as well as the state-of-the-art automatic transmission, make for extremely satisfying handling, sparkling drive, and pick-up. The Sfera 125 cc four-stroke engine is the ideal synthesis of performance (maximum speed of 105 km/h), low running costs, reliability, maximum design and constructional simplicity, technological innovation and respect for the environment.

The engine is one of the quietest in its class; the meticulous fluid-dynamic study, the adoption of a silent timing belt, and analysis of every source of noise performed in the Piaggio laboratories has made it possible to keep all noise well below current standards. Manufactured in the Pontedera plant with advanced robotised equipment, the Sfera frame has been completely redesigned, with the same generous helmet container under the saddle. Performance is outstanding in terms of flexional and torsional rigidity, to guarantee maximum safety even in situations of particular stress. Every component of the Sfera has been designed to simplify filling, maintaining and enjoying the vehicle.
The Sfera 125 RST was produced from 1996-1998: the new 'classic style' 125 cc ET4 model was introduced in the meantime and replaced the Sfera...

Nice chrash guards for the 'old' Sfera 50 cc...

And for the 125 cc...
