Moment of Creation by Sarah Hayes February 2nd 1997 Chiang Mai Thailand The Music begins, rippling and quiet at first, but slowly growing louder-wave after wave. The artist sinks her hands into a tub of color and swirls blue across the vast canvass. A thick, gooey line of white comes next. A dancer approaches, face drawn, eyes full of fear. She seems alone, cradling an imaginary infant. A second dancer moves in. He is free, powerful, his weil of energy twisting and turning in a frenzy of life. He is in Control and the women is trapped. "we see our life's transforming each day" comes a voice riding on the music. "Anticipation…. Artifacts of life…. Learning to break free…." A Splash of watery red, rivulets streaming downwards. "Pages falling from ancient relics…." The women looks up, eyes afire. She rises slowly, Powerfully. Now she is strong. The artist spreads a handful of straw over the white line. The dancer takes a handful of straw and scatters it over the groveling man. He clutches at the stems -they are all he has now.
"Iridescent life flows through"
