Born

He was born 19 April 1946 in Ganja, Azerbayan.

Education

After taking classes at the musical college, in 1965 Galib Mammadov transferred to Baku and started to have lessons of composition by Fikret Amirov. Later he entered the Musical College, named Asaf Zeynally, and joined a theory and composition section, joining the class of the composer Xayam Mirzazade, R. Farhadova and Z. Stelnic.
In 1969 Galib Mammadov entered the Azerbayan Republic Conservatory, named after Uzeir Hajibeyov. Here he joined the composition class of the composer Kara Karajev.
In the years of study at the conservatory he composed preludes,variations and sonata for piano, Sonatina for oboe and piano, scherzo for flute and piano and a string quartet.
He graduated in 1975 with "Bayaties", vocal cycle for soprano, bass and symphony orchestra on text of the Azerbayan poet Vagif Bayat.

Galib Mammadov is one of the musicians, who tries to bring an interaction between the Western and the Eastern culture.
He plays many different musical instruments: bariton,accordion, violoncello ,piano and organ. Nowadays he is a organist in a Norwegian Church.
