15 October 1932 in Tartu, Estonia.

Education

Rääts completed his piano studies at the Tartu Music School with Aleksandra Sarv in 1952. In 1957 Rääts graduated from the Tallinn Conservatory as composer. He was a student of Prof. Mart Saar and Prof. Heino Eller.

Style

Rääts’ music attracted attention with its originality, particular energy and rhythmic activity. In his works there can be found a lot of features which allow to speak about Neo-Classical style.
