Psittacula krameri X Psittacula eupatria Description: The hybrid
shows characteristics of both species. Length:
48 - 50 cm. Note: The hybrids
from Ring-necked parakeets and Alexandrine parakeets are the most common hybrids.
These cross-birds are not always infertile. They are often sold as sub-species
of the Alexandrine parakeet. Most Ring-necked Alexandrine parakeet are bred to
add mutations into the pure Alexandrine parakeet. This can take years to establish
just one mutation. The most common mutation is the hybrid Lutino. See for more

Ring-necked Parakeet
Psittacula krameri X Psittacula alexandri Description: The hybrid
shows characteristics of both species. Length:
36 - 38 cm. Note: The youngsters
from Ring-necked parakeets and Moustached parakeets are rare. The breeding results
with these hybrids show that no youngsters were bred, but some breeders did have
youngsters.from these cross-birds. It can
not be said that these cross-birdsis are fertile or infertile. As like the Ring-necked
Alexandrine parakeets, the Moustached Ring-necked parakeets are also bred for
mutations. |

shows characteristics of both species. Length:
40 cm. Note: Slaty-headed
Ring-necked parakeets are not very often seen. The breeding results of these hybrids
show that no youngsters were bred, but some breeders did have youngsters.from
these cross-birds. It can
not be said that these cross-birdsis are fertile or infertile. As like the Ring-necked
Alexandrine parakeets, the Moustached Ring-necked parakeets, Slaty-headed Ring-necked
parakeets are also bred for mutations. |

Plum-headed Parakeet
Psittacula himalayana X Psittacula cyanocephala Description: The hybrid
shows characteristics of both species. Length:
36 - 38 cm. Note: The hybrids
bred from the Slaty-headed parakeet and the Plum-headed
parakeet erroneously are called the mysterious Intermediate
parakeet (Psittacula intermedia). Actually the main difference is that
the cross-birds have a dark or black lower mandible and the pure Intermediate
parakeet has a yellowish lower mandible. |
