Olea europea   -  OLEACEAE  /  Olive

[cantonada Ma. Cristina] - E-43002 TARRAGONA.

2. > Potted in a Bonsai-pot in 2000, and after restyling shows the tree in 2001
Because it produces many fine roots that do not withstand protracted frost, the cold tolerance of the olive is limited!
In our climate I have to keep the Bonsai in a cold greenhouse during winter at ± 4 to 6°C,
as also the leaves bear no lower temperatures. (Still in training)
Dims in 2004
32cm 24cm,  trunk diameter at the base: 6cm

Calbás  -  BIGNONIACEAE /  Crescentia cujete L.  /  Calabash tree,
On a holyday trip to Curacao in 1982 we collected as a souvenir a "Calbás" from a natural tree. Once at home I opened the Calbás, not knowing that it was completely filled with seeds. I got 100ds of seedlings which I gave all away, keeping only one
1. In 2006, this is finally the result after years of work and care given to the seedling!
2. After defoliation in jan,  photo taken in  february 2007, 3. Trunk
In our climate I have to keep the Bonsai as an indoor plant during wintertime, september/may
Dims in 2006  26cm 21cm,  trunk diameter at the base: 9cm
