Dexter Holland and Greg Kriesel started the band when they wanted to get into a Social Distortion show. But they could'nt get in the show because they didn't really have a band. When they finally started a band in 1984 they did'nt even have any instruments. The band that they started was called Manic Subsidal. They also had two other guys who are not in the band any more. The old drummer couldn't be at all of the concerts so Ron Welty the current drummer kept on naging Dexter to let him replace him, so Dexter finally gave in. When Kevin (Noodles) joined he was a cleaner at a local school. When all four of the members were in the band they dicided to change the name to The Offspring. In 1989 Offspring they released their fisrt album The Offspring. After that they tried to get a better record company. They found Epitaph and re'released there first album The Offspring. In 1992 they released another album Ignition with Epitaph. In 1994 they released another album Smash which sold more than 8, 000, 000 copies plus. Smash was also released with Epitaph. Offspring and Epitaph began fighting which forced Offspring to look for another record company. So Offspring signed with Columbia and released there new album Ixnay On The Hombre which was released in January 27 in Australia and Febuary 4 in America. The highest position it has reached in the Australian charts is No.2 and the first single All I Want reached No.15. Columbia paid more than $10, 000, 000 for the rights of the new album. The new album has Dead Kennedys Jello Biafra doing the tracks Disclamer and Intermission. Then they released their new album Americana which included Pretty fly (for a white guy) which reached No.1 in the Australian charts.
