NEWS: Personal distance sand skiing record broken!

2 Months before, there was a strong northeast wind (20 knots, 5 bft) and I sand skied on the beach behind my kite from Scheveningen to Kijkduin.
For the first time I skied a long track of approx. 3-km. I enjoyed the moment, but on the time I arrived in Kijkduin I already made up my mind and set the next target: The 5 km north-east track Scheveningen-Wassenaar.

The weekend before the 4th Oct. I checked the south wind every 2 hours, because I was waiting for the right conditions: southwest force 6. Unfortunately it did not exceed force 4.5 and was south. Sunday afternoon I even went to the beach, but it was no use lifting the kite: too much sunshine, not enough wind and most important, too many people.

October 4th
During the next day's the wind was between west and south and on the evening of the 4 Oct the conditions were perfect: Southwest wind force 6, low tide.
I quickly took my kite, skies and mobile phone, kissed Simone goodbye and she promised to pick me up at the beach (2nd exit) of Wassenaar with the car.

The beach looked perfect: strong wind aligned with the beach and just a few people walking with their dogs.
I did put my skies on, lifted my kite and I went of immediately!
I rapidly left Scheveningen and after a few minutes I was alone, surrounded by seagulls which took-off loudly when I appeared.
I did ski large sinus-forms, on the wide stretch of sand, between the sea and the dunes and enjoyed the perfect conditions while my fast moving skies where making sound on the sand.

After approx. 10 minutes people with dogs appeared and I noticed that I already was approaching Wassenaar. I continued skiing and waited for the next exit.
However, the next exit did not appear and I was alone again heading north in large sinus-forms.
The sun was ready to set and the wind maintained power.
After 15 minutes the village of Katwijk, with its lighthouse, was appearing and I realised that I passed my goal!

Although my legs where getting tired, I continued my track and after 30 minutes I landed my kite.
With shaking legs I called Simone to pick me up in Katwijk and put my kite gear together while the sun was setting.
After 9 km's of sand skiing behind my powerkite, we enjoyed the beef in the restaurant on the beach and I was wondering what the next track is going to be...

I'll keep you updated
