De sharpei
Shar-pei are a Chinese breed that in 1947
almost had died out because one the dog tax in China had screwed so high that
some Chinese couldn't pay this..
Most of the dogs became eaten because the Chinese could not pay this tax!!
Shar-pei were used initially for the hunting on wild pig's and guarding the
herds of the Chinese.
How old the breed is ,is not whole clear. Already on art objects from the HAN-
DINASTY (2000 years ago) There where already such dogs on the art objects
represented.
Certain is that the breed have the last centuries also been used as a
fighting dog !,he was tormented and used against other dogs to fight.
the Chinese considered it as a type sport!! his
loose skin protected him against too much bite.
By its natural good-natured character and kindness compared with others ,one
must nevertheless ask our self the question, if the dogs have not something
given to make him more aggressive ??
Shar-pei can this day look forward to a increasing interest ,what of course
also have its disadvantages because a lot of so-called ,,Breeders ''
thinks their make easy money of this splendid breed and will breed more and
more, and take less care about its defaults and healthy questions that in this
breed!!!
It is an intelligent breed and very faithful to there owners ,also the
Shar-pei is a very child pleasant and clean dog!!!
Complete well in child-friendly families and is a keeper of house and hearth !
Shar-pei are however in the beginning very distant to strangers ,but once the
ice has broken he's you best friend for living with and will protect you!
Shar-pei's are quadratic
built, compact and quiet dog. The udder is deeply and broad where as the back
is short.
Behind the beast the back line something expires to go up, to the tail. throat
skin wrinkles and folds proceed on the fuselage in striking skin folds, the
legs are strongly and very well muscular, the jumps are low at the leg's.
The neck is powerful and strong with a heavy throat skin....
TO COLOR; All firm colors have been permitted,
Black, Fawn, Red, Brown, Blue, Isabella ,Lilac and Cream, where this color in
show area is less wanted in the show-ring!
HEAD AND SKULL; Flat, broad and large skull, with not too much stopper, the
cheeks and the face are covert with fine wrinkles which lead down in heavy
throat skin folds.
Moderate long muzzle, widely and obtuse without go smaller to the nose point
and on the nose of a hippopotamus!! seeming Black and large nose, except at
the DILUTE color then the pigment in the color of the fleece and the tongue
lavender color instead of blue such as it has been generally needed!!!
Dark, small and almond shape eyes, these deep eyes give character to the
animal.
The ears are small and fairly thick and have the shape of a triangle. ,the
points have been wound up .The ears have been placed above the eye line and
stand far from each side.
Shar-pei have shear siccor bite!
TAIL; Very high incited, at most wanted in a circle (DONUT) or half circle
behave and to a side indicating. The tail is thick and round at the carrot and
leads in sharp point end.
FEET; Moderately large, compact, firm cat-like feet.
PILOSITY; One knows the HORSE-COAT and the BRUSH-COAT the Brush-coat fleece
can no longer be then 2,5cm,Shar-pei's have no undercoat!
The Horse-coat are extraordinarily short and unusually hard, which leave
some people to have skin irritations for this structure of fleece.
Also one knows still the Bear-coat, these are a too long fleece and very
gentle structure, those form of fleece type are undesirable and are false!
Hight; Max :58,5 cm Bitches sometimes are lower in build!
WEIGHT;18.5 up to 29,5 kilo-grams..
