Joli(e)s most recent public conceptual project in urban space took place within the framework of the manifestation "Bear The Brunt!" of saturday september 4th 2004 on the entire Nieuwe Binnenweg Street, Rotterdam, Holland.
The project was spontaneously repeated on octobre 9th in San Francisco (!), new pictures coming soon.
Here's an introduction to this latest soft-anarchy art action by Joli(e), kindly funded with a grant by the CBK.
Joli(e) had 750 feet-stickers being stuck on the streets' pavement and had 10 unique -posters being hung in windows of the following shops/institutions: CBK Rotterdam, VolumeMarkt Supermarket, Pot-shop Sky High, Fabricati Gadgets, Turkish Airlines, Audiogallery, Wester Farmacy, Studio Theo, The Naked Bubble Designers and The NightShop.
The stickers simply show where the Rotterdam citizens usually cross the street, for Joli(e) has observed where this happens for the past few months. These "GameTracks (in Dutch 'WildPaden')" stickers showed it's actually very good that the urban population decides for itself where to walk, thus actually paying attention to the traffic more.
Brave assistents in orange fluorescent shirts stormed the pavement from noon on in order to lay out the stickerpaths, which later that day would be spontaneously used by grateful 'wild crossing' citizens.
The official opening was at 2 and at night the other projects participating in the same manifestation were celebrated with an openingsspeech at 8.
The gametracks which were tread upon by many on september 4th and 5th, disappeared on september 6th. Since the stickers had to be removed again (in connection with police permit). Yet, you can still look at the transitory remains.
Enjoy the view.
