Connexxion Fast Flying Ferries started, after a successful test program held on Tuesday
the 26th of august 1997 and then after a completely
rebuilding during the winter of 1997 at the Metz shipyard in Urk, as the first
public transportation company over water his service on Monday the 27th
of april1998, by using three old Voskhods type 2 named; ‘Archimedes’,
‘Annemarie’and ‘La Alta Rapido’, which
served their time on the Black Sea and after the falling of the Sovjet Union
they were taking out of the service and stalled on a wharf in Odessa and bought

At the
end of the year 2001 and after 3 years being very (ferry)
successful with this fast and efficient services operating in between
Velsen-Zuid
and Amsterdam with an average of 700
passengers a day, well above what is required to break even, and increasing
rapidly over the end of the year 2002, the company of Connexxion Fast Flying
Ferries decided to buy three completely new type’s of design Voskhods called
the Voskhod 2M-FFF built and delivered by the Feodosia shipbuilding
association"MORYE" located in the Ukraine.
The F.S.A had three unfinished hulls of the voskhod-2M, the M stands for marine,
named Hull “604”, “605” and “606”.
The major difference between the Voskhod-2 and 2M is, that the 2M has a better seaworthiness
due to larger foils
( the foils are also better corrosion resisted).
From a logistic view it was better to start building first on hull 605, 606 and
at last 604.
The
first arrival in Velsen was the 605 on Friday 31st of may 2002 (shipped by MS.
Eilsum),

during
